So this little guy turned two on Christmas day – what a special thing to share a birthday with Jesus! Carson’s parents are great friends of ours and I was so excited when they asked me if I would take some updated pictures for them. The only difficult thing is the weather in Michigan is quite unpredictable in the winter so we decided to go to the Grand Rapids Public MuseumĀ and had a wonderful morning together.

Don’t get me wrong, Carson gave me a run for my money. I think the first couple times I asked him, “Carson, can you show me your teeth?” He said, “No.” or “Carson, can you say cheese?” “No.” Ha! But he warmed up after a little bit, especially when we rode the carousel. What a fun way to take pictures! Although, I almost fell over a couple times between trying to brace myself between two horses going up and down and looking through my eye piece of my camera. All in all, I had some much fun wondering around the museum with these three and they truly are such an amazing family. I love having them in my life and share such great memories with them. Here’s to many, many more years of making memories with our families. Love you guys!

Last month, one of my close friends from college gave birth to their second child, a beautiful baby girl. And a little bit ago, I got to take some newborn pictures of her and the rest of her family. I distinctly remember when Karlee told me she was pregnant with baby number two and from that day, I was convinced it was a girl! Maybe because I have two girls myself and that’s just automatically what I think a baby is when someone is pregnant because I’ve never experienced anything else or maybe because I really, REALLY wanted her to experience having a girl because she needs all things pink, fluffy, glittery and sparkly in her life. Regardless, the week they found out the gender of their baby, I was so eager and excited and… it was a girl!! So I’m certain since that day, their house has been filled with all things pink, fluffy, glittery and sparkly šŸ™‚ I may have contributed to that.

Baby Harper is absolutely adorable. When she was first born, I saw so much of her big brother in her and I’m excited to watch her grow and see all of her personality and features develop. I’ll say one thing, she has big gorgeous blue eyes like her mama! I am so so so thrilled for this family of four. Thanks so much Jeremy, Karlee, big brother Jack and Harper for letting me take these pictures for you. Love you guys so much!

I met this couple back in July when it worked out to take their engagement pictures up north after I captured a wedding in Petoskey, Michigan. And since then, I have loved every chance to get to know them better. Tricia and Erik are one of those couples you just love watching together. They bring out the best in each other and just know each other so well.

Their wedding was such an emotional, personal event. It was filled with personal touches, significant meaning and words from the heart. Their friend officiated the wedding and she did a truly amazing job. Her words were eloquent, passionate and so characteristic of Tricia and Erik. If you look at the pictures of Tricia’s face throughout the ceremony, you can just see the genuine emotion. It was so beautiful. Erik’s mother spoke during the ceremony too and again, made it so special and unforgettable. Erik’s Aunt traveled all the way around the world to be present at his wedding and made a heartfelt toast during the reception too. So many wonderful moments, so many wonderful people. It was truly such a great, great day.

Tricia and Erik, thank you for choosing me as your wedding photographer. I was honored and delighted to capture such a cherished day. May you never forget the love and happiness you felt on your wedding day. Love and hugs to you both!

Love. Unity. Laughter.Ā Belonging. Family. Beauty. Cherished. These are just a couple of the words that come to mind when I think back onĀ Elisa and Curtice’s wedding day. It was one of the most beautiful, sacred wedding celebrations I have had the privilege of participating in and for so many reasons.

When you watch Elisa and Curtice together, you just see how they love one another. You see them looking at only each other. You see all the fun and adventure. You see their hearts and minds intertwined. You see two peopleĀ so meant to be together. And you see two families becoming one as well.

A couple years ago, I was able to capture Elisa’s sister Annie’s wedding day and I have so many fond memories from that day too. So it was such a wonderful surprise when I got the email from Elisa asking if I could photograph her wedding. And it made me remember all the great, special and hilarious traditions this family has. If you’re wondering why I said “hilarious”, it’s because of their “wedding blues” song their entire family (yes, like thirty people) performs at each reception. It totally brought me back to Annie and Tim’s wedding when they did a similar, just as entertaining and just as custom, song then.

This day was just so unique – centered around love for one another, love for their families and love for Christ. One of my hands down, favorite memories from wedding season 2016 is singing the Doxology duringĀ Elisa and Curtice’s ceremony. About a hundred people together singing such beautiful, powerful words a cappella. There’sĀ not a lot that can topĀ that. It was absolutely gorgeous, gives me chills just thinking about it.

Okay, okay, on to the pictures. Here are some of my favorite moments from Elisa and Curtice’s wedding. Thank you so much you two, for allowing me to be part of such a beautiful, special and fun wedding celebration! I pray God continues to guide you as husband and wife to honor one another and honor Him. You two hold a special place in my heart.

How is it even possible that this adorable little man is almost 6 months old already? I remember taking Amy’s maternity pictures on a beautiful day in March on the beach in Holland. I’m pretty sure it was like 50 degrees and then this past weekend I got to take some more pictures of this wonderful family on a 50 degree day in November. Andrew, I think you just bring about good weather, among many, many other good things!Ā This little guy was probably one of the most photogenic children I have had to take pictures of. He hardly needed any persuasion to get him to smile and giggle. Just goes to show you how happy of a guy he is! And those blue eyes… I absolutely love them!

Well, we have totally lucked out with how nice the weather has been this fall here in Michigan and you better believe I am taking full advantage of it for photoshoots. Apparently lots of other photographers are doing the same because there was about four or five other photo sessions going on at the Van Raalte Farm Park in Holland this past Saturday. But with a little bit of patience, I think we were all able to utilize the beautiful setting and get some great pictures. I know I did, but how can you not with this picture perfect family?! They are like a GAP commercial. I loved being able to see these three again and I hope I get to see them many more times in the future. Thank you Amy, Mark and Andrew for asking me to take these pictures for you!
